We joined the zoo and headed over right after New Years to spend a fun day there as a family. We have always loved the orangutan exhibit, and we hadn't been since they built this awesome new habitat for them. We always spend a while watching them and enjoying their antics.
We always bring the kids' bikes with us to the zoo as well. They get exercise and don't start complaining that they are tired as soon as we get there. There are a few hills that they need a push up and of course, if there is any downhill slope, Fin and Isaac get scared and need help, but other than that, it is a lot of fun having the bikes there.
One of the benefits of having a membership is that I don't mind if we end up spending quite a bit fo time at the kids' play areas. They love it, and I don't feel like we need to rush to go see more animals. In the below picture the kids ran from the slide right over to the stairs to go again...they got a bit of a surprise when they got there though, which you can see in the picture.
Sareny found a little tree to hide in.
Then we stopped at the African exhibit.
After she ran down from the viewing platform, I asked Finley to stop for a picture. She immediately froze in her tracks and I got this awesome picture.
Cute sisters.
Mommy and the girls.
Finley in the pouch of a kangaroo.
Another must stop play area is the giant spiderweb. The kids love climbing and crawling all over it.
Then we visited the animal statues, where the kids like to climb and pose for pictures.
I love this one. They look so happy and like such good friends.
When we were leaving the area, Finley spotted these little meerkats, and she promptly sat on one and asked me to take her picture. Sareny joined in, of course. I thought it was pretty silly.
We had a lot of fun at the zoo and have been back several times since then.
