In addition to the lovely nativity we reenacted on Christmas Eve, we also participated in the age-old tradition of bashing Santa's head in. What, you didn't do this in your family?
Nobody is quite sure where the Keel family tradional Santa pinata comes from, but photographic evidence and carbon dating of the re-used pinata facial features show that this custom has gone on since we were quite young.
Earlier in the day we decorated sugar cookies to leave out for the real Santa, whom we hoped would over-look the brutal savagery committed later in the eve.
Two cuties in their Christmas finery.

These are cute pictures! I love Finley's face in that last one!
I know. That is such a cute pic of her and Rhys. I wish I could remember the very first time we did the Santa pinata, but I know you guys were really young when we started that. And it always had to be the same hand made weird looking Santa. I bought a pinata one year and everyone had a fit.
Oh Hillari, Duncan and I are totally cracking up reading this post. Too funny!!
we did have lots of fun on christmas eve minus my little crying episode. those babies are just so cute.
Looks like fun! I love the Santa head pinata =)
Hi Hillari- We didn't stick around very long after the 5K. My boys were freezing! I didn't see you either but you for sure didn't see me running. Hate running! It was awesome to see your Dad run too. People who run are my idol.
I like the idea of smashing in the head of Santa. We do pinata's for the boy's birthdays, you just gave me a another reason to go ape-crazy with a stick during the holidays. Thank-you!
I have never heard of a Santa pinata before... but it sure looks like fun!
Christmas at the Keel's certainly looks fun. Love that picture of Rhys and Finley! What cute babies! Jo is to be given a big Hurrah for taking on the job of making "crook cracks" that isn't an easy feat!
Sounds like a fun time - this was a funny blog entry!
