It's over 100 degrees on a daily basis, which means summer is definitely here. And for three lucky kids in our house, that means swimming lessons!
This year I'm doing the baby class with Finley, Isaac is in level B and Sareny is in level 1 (I accidentally registered her for the wrong level, she should be in level 2.)
Last year, being hugely pregnant with Finley and ready to go into labor at any moment, I enrolled Isaac in a level 1 class, which he hated. He was not quite two years old and spent six and a half weeks holding on to the side of the pool crying nonstop with me sitting right at the edge of the pool doing what I could to comfort him. (The last week and a half he laughed and giggled and loved every minute.) It was not easy for either of us.
Last weekend, we swam at our friend's house. Isaac was completely terrified and clung tightly to me. He also insisted on wearing his, "boobies," which is apparently what he thinks floaties are called. It's kind of silly. Needless to say, I was a little concerned about him. He spent most of Monday and Tuesday's lessons sitting at the edge of the pool, and the couple times he got in, he cried and struggled to get out. Wednesday, I sat at the edge with him for a few minutes and kept him in the water. When I went back to my lesson, he stayed in with only a little bit of crying. Thursday and Friday he stayed in the pool the whole time with almost no crying. Yay Isaac!
Sareny wasn't very excited for lessons to start--I think she had forgotten that swimming lessons are fun! I asked her to tell me about her lessons, and she said "They're fun! I do superman arms and put my head in and rush to the wall."

i am glad isaac is doing better this year in swim lessons. he is so funny calling his floaties boobies. haha. the kids are cute.
Swim lessons already! I'm glad Isaac is starting to like his lessons more. Hopefully he won't need his "boobies" for much longer! Sareny sounds like she loves her lessons. Cute pictures of the kids!
you must have to swim everyday to survive the heat. we start swim lessons tomorrow. i am pretty nervous that izz will react somewhat like isaac and refuse to get in the water. i will keep you posted.
I'm glad Isaac started enjoying his lessons a little sooner than last year! I thought maybe Bampa and I were going to have to come down and rescue him. (which means just let him get out and sit on Bampa's lap). Cute pics of the kids. Fin looks like such a biggy girl.
My kids didn't want to take formal lessons this year (Shane didn't want them to either). I guess I'm taking them up to the pool and teaching them myself, uggh!
Glad to hear that Isaac's doing well in his swim lesson...
