Cloudy, with a chance of meatballs...

For family home evening last week we decided to do a themed dinner and watch Cloudy, With a Chance of Meatballs. I kind of stole this idea from my awesome and creative friend Debra G, and we had a lot of fun with it!

We of course dined on meatballs.
Then we decided to make donuts.
I was not in love with this recipe, but Sareny declared them, "Better than QT's!" It was a lot of fun to make our own donuts, and the kids got really excited when they spotted donuts in the movie!
The finished product.
We had a really fun family time!

Yeah, she pulled it out herself! I didn't think ours were better than QT, that was Sareny's opinion. But I thought it was more fun than buying them from QT!

Okay, I've decided that I'll leave comments on people's blogs now. I'm slowly but surely putting my feet in the water (regarding this whole web world thing) - one stubborn toe at a time. Anyhoo, that's a really cute FHE idea and I'm seriously impressed with all those cute skirts you've made. PS: I want your recipe for panda orange chicken. I bought the sauce the other day because I've been craving it ever since the holidays.

Your donuts look delicious! My mouth is watering for one right now. Yum! Looks like fun and also a lot of work. I don't know if I'm up for it but you always have cute ideas to do with your family.

That looks like a fun night! I've never seen that movie, but I've heard it's super cute and I LOVE doing theme nights with movies, so maybe sometime soon we'll have to rent it and copy you guys. I don't know about the donuts though...since I don't have a kitchenaid they would probably be really hard. You are such fun parents!

What a fun idea. I'm sure the kids loved it. You are such a good mom! I love theme nights with movies too, and when we watched "Groundhog Day" the other night I was going to make blood sausages, but thought better of it! I could have made donuts though, there is that scene where Bill Murray is stuffing his face with pastries. Sareny looks so cute with her toothless grin.

Craig was looking over my shoulder when I was looking at your blog and he wants your recipe! Your donuts were so perfectly round, I don't know how you did it. This gave me and idea for next FHE! Thanks! That last photo of your kids makes me want to pinch some cheeks!

Okay your donuts looked fabulous, but when I had "kids in the kitchen" we just bought those rolls in a can and pushed our finger in the middle and spun it around a few times to make the hole big enough, then we fried them and sprinkled them with sugar. Lots easier but not nearly as tasty.

You successfully just made me crave both meatballs and donuts. Coincidently on the same date I finally did an online profile on a fitness site to help me lose 30 lbs. Drat!
