Clark County Fair--the other stuff

In between all those rides, we took in a couple of shows and ate some funnell cake. The plate of funnell cake was left unattended, and Keeley headed over and helped herself.
She was so cute wadding it in! You can see that her poor little eyes haven't quite recovered from the sunscreen though.
Then while Keith and I went out to the van, Sareny and Isaac rode the mechanical bull. I would have liked to have seen them--I bet they were cute. When we got back, Finley had decided she wanted to try it, but just after Lexi paid, she changed her mind. So Lexi got up there for her 8 seconds of glory.
The ride starts out really gentle and gradually increases in ferocity.
This was moments before she toppled off.
Those sore little eyes! I was amazed that she left that cute little hat on so good, because since that day, she tries to take it off as soon as it touches her head.
We went in to see the animals.
Some of the adults in our group, including Scott's grandma, who lives in Las Vegas.
We all loved these cute little piggies.
I don't know what it is about baby pigs, or really baby anything, they are just cute!
Sareny and Finley.
The little spotted pig kept trying to eat, but its mom was standing up eating, so it wasn't getting a good latch. It kept trying though!
There is Isaac with the pigs.
Grammy Jo held little KeeKee.
More of Grammy and Keeley.
The last thing we did was watch an acapella group perform. The rest of our group had already seen them earlier in the day while I took Isaac and Sareny on rides (and Finley slept), and Keith thought our kids would really enjoy the show. So we stayed and watched their second performance while the everybody else went home. It was a really cool, fun show, and the kids loved it so much we stuck around and met a few of the band members afterwards.
They were really nice and talked to the kids for a while. Finley didn't want to get in the above picture, but agreed to get in the bottom one at the last second. Silly girl!
Anyway, I think it is safe to say that fun times were had by all at the Clark County Fair.

Clark County Fair--the rides

The first ride we went on was the swings. Finley thought it was a little too scary, so she didn't give it a try, but the other kids went with Daddy and had fun.
Then we hit up the kiddie rides.
There are lots of them, and they are not geared whatsoever towards adults' enjoyment at all. In fact, pretty much no ride at the fair has adults in mind.
We got to the fair very first thing, because we had to go on a Saturday so we wanted to avoid the lines as much as possible.
The kids actually really liked all these little rides.
Even Sareny.
This little rollercoaster actually looked pretty fun. But it kind of boggles my mind how the kids really aren't concerned with sitting by each other--when they get through the gate, apparently its every kid for themself.
Isaac and Finley rode this big truck together.
Not sure where Sareny was sitting.
And then came this unforunate moment--we were in line for the zipper, and the kids raced to the Haunted House. Without us. Not a good idea. Sareny and Isaac did fine, but after about a minute, Poor Finley Lynn came running out the entrance all by herself. I tried to taking her back in, but she changed her mind after just a couple of steps in.
Grammy and Bampa hung around with us and watched the kids go on rides. They also bought Keeley that little pink hat to protect her head, and took her to the first aid station when she got sunscreen in her eyes.
Lexi and Scott were also there for the weekend, as was Scott's grandma. Me, Keith, Sareny, and Lexi and Scott rode the zipper. This may have been the worst decision I have made in a loooong time. I remember loving this ride as a kid and riding it over and over again, and this time, I was just trying to hang in there until it was over. I was seriously not feeling good, but by the time I got off, I felt fine again. I decided to trick my group though, and as soon as I got off the ride, I ran straight for the garbage can they were standing right by, then said, "Just kidding." Lexi thought I was about to puke!
The kids rode this mini boat ride thing that Finley said made her sick.
You can see Isaac putting his hands up in the air.
We rode the merry go round. Me, Finely and Isaac rode together.
Sareny ran off on her own and rode with random people...
Then the kids did some more kiddie rides.
It was cute that Isaac jumped on the back of Fin's motorcycle.
And then Finley rode the swings. Apparently this ride has a maximum height, and Finley was the only one short enough to ride.
She was so cute on it!

Love my little girl!
Then Keith took the older two kids on the full size pirate ship type ride--ugh. I wisely stayed off, but he said it was fine and even took them again. And now I am remembering the decision that was probably even worse than the zipper--I got on this dragon ride with the kids earlier in the day. It was just like those rides that are usually a giant berry that you sit in and they spin around and around...it was awful, and it just kept going on and on! I leaned my head out several times and asked the ride conductor to stop (yes, it was that bad!) but he just smiled and waved at me. As it turns out, I don't think he could actually speak any English.
While the other kids were on that boat, Finley rode this little tractor.
She was just so cute!
Then they all rode this one.
Then Isaac and Sareny tried out this one, and it whipped them around the track.
They loved it, and everytime they came around they were completely giggling and laughing. I have never seen two people having so much fun! I let them ride it 3 or 4 times.
And then we did the swings again, but not before I got spit on. Yep. Low point of the day, for me. I was walking to the swings line carrying a lemonade, when a lovely swing rider hawked a big one on me. That landed right on my boob. Completely gross. I tried to determine who it was so I could confront them when they got off, but they were pretty good at looking inconspicuous. Jerk. But me and the kids had fun on the swings!

State Fair with Grammy and Bampa

Another thing we wanted to do with Grammy and Bampa was take them to the State Fair so they could see the kids' exhibits. The kids were very careful to keep the ribbons a secret so they could be surprised at the fair. It was a fun day! In the bugs exhibit, Isaac and Rhys got caught by this giant spider.
Keeley and her Grammy Jo--love this picture!
Grammy and Bampa with their grandkids.
Then we let the kids color on this grafitti wall for a bit--they loved it! Isaac has come a long way in his drawing--a year ago, he had never drawn anything except for scribbles. I am not kidding. Now he will sit and color/draw for a while with the other kids.
This mermaid was a source of contention--Sareny had been working hard on it and then Isaac colored her hair. Sareny got mad at Isaac, so he drew his own mermaid.
I love how chubby it is with a little tail at the bottom. Cute!
Lexi helped Rhys with his drawing. Holli and John were at a wedding, so we took Rhys with us to the fair.
It may have been the extra kid, or strangely but seriously, the extra adults that contributed to the catastrophe that happened next. We left that area, got up to the exit, and noticed that Isaac was not with us. Usually when this happens, it just takes a couple of seconds/minutes to locate a dawdler, but in this case, he was truly gone. We searched and searched, and ended up at the "lost children" police trailer. They let me know they had found a child and were retreiving him. Why it took so long, I don't know, but we waited there for probably 5 or 10 minutes before they brought me my little boy. We were so glad to see him! Isaac really was not able to describe the situation well to us at all, but as far as we could tell, he stopped to look at something and nobody noticed. I have no idea who found him or how he got help, but thank goodness someone helped him, and he was okay.
After the fair, we ate dinner at Cooperstown, where some of us had a BIG UNIT! The next day after church, Grammy and Bampa and Holli, Johnny, and Rhys went home. We had a fun visit with them!
