Swimming Fun

The same day as the marker incident, as I mentioned before, we went swimming at Starpoint. Lexi and Scott came along, and we had tons of fun. It is always a lot more fun when you have other adults to talk to and help out with the kids. Keeley discovered the slides, and it was all over from there.
She wanted to go down the slides all day long! And you can see from her face below that the permanent marker was totally gone! That sunscreen worked like a charm.
Someone has to be at the top of the slide to help her go down, and then an adult has to be at the bottom to catch her. This is what she looks like at the bottom!
But as soon as she is out, she takes off to go again.
Here is Lexi going down the slide.
 And IJ going down.
 And climbing out.
And here he probably got in trouble by the lifeguard for not climbing out quickly enough...
Sareny is a nice sister and will help Keeley  go up the rope and down the slide.
Cute little Finney Lynn.
I think  you can tell that we spent a quite a while helping KeeKee's go down the slide.
 Sareny and Scott.
 Cute Isaac.
 Sareny went down the slide.
It was a fun day. Eventually we had to drag Keeley away from the slides. :) When I go to the pool, I prefer be in water deep enough to hide by body, so standing at the bottom of the slide to catch Keeley for all the world to see is not my favorite. But that girl is, so stand there I did.

First Swim of the Season

We took the kids swimming once the pool opened up for the season and had a fun time.
Keeley looked so cute in her little hoodie coverup!
 Cute sissies!
Keeley was excited to go swimming.
The girls had fun swimming together.
KeeKee River loves the swimming pool!
Isaac had fun playing with Rivvie and made her laugh.
It's been nice this year because all of the kids, except Rivvie, obviously, know how to swim pretty well. Keeley has actually been very chill and relaxed in her little life jacket and enjoys just hanging out with mama. Glad we have this pool!

The Sollenberger Classic

The MV Pirates got invited back to the Sollenberger Classic this year, and we had lots of fun visiting them at the Biltmore Hotel and swimming.

I'm glad that I have such good swimmers!

Isaac really liked the hot tub.

Their slide is lots of fun, and the pool workers are a lot more laid back than at our resident's pool.

Cute little Finney Lynn!

The splash down.

Lexi started cheering and yelling "Woo-hoo!" When I came off the slide once, and we started doing it for everyone after that. The person coming down the slide would then make a pose. It was pretty fun.

The girls in the pool. Minus Grammy Jo. It was kind of sad, because Isaac really wanted her to go down the slide with him. The first day she said she didn't want to get her hair wet, but she would go the next day. Then the next day, she realized she wasn't going to have time to wash her hair and leave to where the team was going, so she told him she couldn't do it again. He thought dripping water all over her hair would solve the problem--her hair was already wet, so then she could go down. :(

Cute kids in front of the slide pool.

Here is our group ready to cheer on the pirates. My friend Lauralyn was here this year with her husband Kelby. It was so fun to see her! We grew up together, and we were roommates together in college, so it is always fun to catch up.

The coach.

We had field passes, so we went down and took a picture of the line of scrimmage.

Lexi was totally embarrassed that I made her take this picture, but I thought we needed a picture of us on the field at Cardinal's Stadium. Also, I noticed that we seem to be taking after my kids here--faces pointed the right direction, eyes were looking at the camera screen...

Even though the Pirates lost this year, it was a super fun time! Hope they get to come back again.

How we've been spending our free time

One of the awesome features of our neighborhood is the fantastic waterpark we get to use just because we live here.
Our kids have gotten to be really good swimmers this summer. Before we moved here, Isaac had the basic skills and movements down, but was not able to actually move himself through the water. The very week we moved in, he put it all together and figured it out.
Now he is really good, and can even take breaths and keep going.

He is also really good at floating.
Lately Finley is trying to take off too, so I'm guessing she'll be swimming by next summer.
Sareny loves to meet her good friend Emily at the pool--they have so much fun together!

I like that the pool has a ledge that goes around the outside edge, it is perfect for Finley to play on.

We love the zero-depth entry play area too.
We generally steer clear when the giant bucket is ready to dump.
Here is Sareny coming off the slide. We like to have races to see who comes out first.
And that is basically how we spent our summer.

Swimming Lessons

The kids are two weeks into swimming lessons for the summer, and it is going great!

Finley is in the parent/child class with me, and she loves it. Mostly she loves to climb on the stairs and play in the gutter as opposed to doing the skills the lifeguard is trying to teach, but at least she is having fun.

She got brave and put her face in the water. Usually when the lifeguard comes over to check her skills and asks her to try something Finley gets a very grouchy look on her face and says, "uh-uh. Mommy!"

Isaac was in a level one class for the first session, and today he just started in level two.

His level one class made the kids sit on the edge of the pool while they wait for their turn. Not very fun, in my opinion, but he seemed to enjoy it and did great, although I think he had a lot more fun in the level two class today.

Sareny is in level three, where she is doing great. She loves learning how to dive and has even swam the whole length of the pool. She's a bit smaller than most of the kids in the class.

Ready to practice some new kicks and breathing techniques with a kickboard held out in front of her.
I'm so glad they are all enjoying swimming lessons this summer and doing so well.
